The latest in a string of eBay auctions featuring rare and collectible items is set to be sold on Monday, with one pair of sunglasses set to fetch £600.
The pair of blue glasses, which were bought in February 2016, are worth more than £300 on the auction house.
John Lennon glasses were first sold in April 2008 and have since been a fixture in the collection of the musician’s son, Jonny.
The glasses, pictured left, are a pair of the Beatles’ blue lenses in 1964.
They were first bought by a collector on eBay in February 2008.
The glasses were part of the collection for five years and sold on the online auction site on Sunday for a record £2,500.
The auction house said that the pair, which are made from a ‘flat top plastic’ and have a lens in the middle, were not made for use by people with vision problems.
The John Lennon collection was originally sold on eBay for £400 in April 2016.
“The original owner was unaware that the glasses were available on eBay,” said a spokesperson.
“However, the auctioneer was pleased to discover that the original owner had acquired them in April, and sold them on eBay to an interested buyer.
This was a record high for a John Lennon pair, and one of the highest eBay sales ever.”
A second pair of glasses, with a matching lens, were sold on October 20, 2018, for a combined £1,000.
The sale of John and Yoko Lennon’s glasses on eBay has been going on for six years.
